Mistfall Hunter General Harald Mist Lord Boss Guide

How to beat General Harald in Mistfall Hunter: the two elite knights that gate the fight, his ice moveset, team composition, and the berserk timer.

General Harald is one of Mistfall Hunter’s confirmed Mist Lords, and his fight is shaped by two things the collected guides agree on: an opening you cannot skip, and an ice moveset with no second phase behind it. Clear the two elite knights, wait for his health bar, then win a damage race before the berserk timer arrives.

This page is built from one detailed moveset write-up (IGN), one database stat table, and three roster pages. Where those sources disagree — and on his location they clearly do — both readings are shown rather than merged.

Where do you find General Harald?

The collected sources do not agree, so treat this as a two-source majority rather than a settled fact. Two of them place Harald in Brandrgarde; one places him in Hallowgrove. The Brandrgarde reading is the better-supported one and is also the only reading that comes with a corroborating detail about the arena itself.

Notice that the outlier reverses both Mist Lords at once. That is the shape of a transposition rather than two independent findings, which is part of why the Brandrgarde reading looks stronger — but no source in this material set settles it outright, and the in-game map is the authority if you can check it.

The games.gg guide adds the detail that matters most in practice: Brandrgarde holds two Mist Lords, the Flesheater and Harald, and they share the same arena. If you engage the wrong one, that guide says you have to leave and rejoin the map entirely — there is no swapping targets mid-encounter.

That same guide describes the arena access rules, though every figure below comes from it alone and is written about the Flesheater fight rather than Harald’s:

  • Brandrgarde requires a minimum equipment value of 300 Gyldenblood to enter.
  • The arena sits in the Main Hall near the centre of the map, with East, South, and West entrances.
  • Its doors stay sealed until roughly the 20-minute mark, when Soekja sends an on-screen warning cue.
  • Once your team engages, the barrier seals behind you and other squads cannot interfere.
  • After the kill a portal opens, and you have roughly 45 seconds to loot and reach it.

Because those numbers are single-source and framed around a different boss, use them as expectations to verify rather than as confirmed Harald requirements.

How does the General Harald fight start?

It starts with two elite knights, not with Harald. He begins the encounter looking like a dead body at the far back of the room with a knight on either side, and IGN is explicit that both knights must be defeated before he can be damaged at all.

Three details make the opening worth rushing rather than playing safe:

  1. Harald activates while you are still fighting the knights. Clearing them slowly does not buy you a calm opening — it just means fighting the knights with the General already awake.
  2. Killing one knight briefly stuns him. That is a free window, and it only exists twice.
  3. The faster the knights die, the sooner the real fight begins, which matters because of the berserk timer covered below.

Once both knights are down, Harald powers up into his true form and covers the entire room with ice. Until his health bar appears at the top of the screen, hits are wasted energy — IGN says this plainly, and it is the likeliest reason a first attempt feels like the boss is immune.

Then it is one phase to the end. IGN contrasts him directly with Salmar the Cursed Moonwane: unlike her, Harald does not have a second phase. There is no transformation to survive at 50% and no clone mechanic to manage.

What are General Harald’s attacks?

Everything in his kit is ice. IGN describes a sword-first moveset with a ranged option, a room-crossing charge, and a stomp, and notes that most of his attacks carry a small area-of-effect ice component — so dodging the visible attack does not guarantee you avoided the ice riding along with it.

AttackWhat it doesIGN’s answer
Ice from spikesSends ice at your position from spikes around the roomReal knockdown risk if you are already damaged; do not take it on low health
Ranged throwHe jumps into the air and throws across the room, side to sideExpect ranged pressure even though he is primarily a sword user
Sword chargeA small jump, then a charge driving the sword through the groundStick to the far side; ice spikes blast outward along its path
AoE riderA small ice AoE accompanying his ordinary attacksDodging the first hit may still leave you or a teammate in the ice
Foot stompSends a lane of ice straight aheadHe is occupied briefly — hit his side or back

One environmental factor amplifies all of it: the arena is described as relatively small, leaving little room to manoeuvre. Attacks that would be trivially avoidable in an open field are harder to escape here, which is the practical reason his ranged and room-crossing moves matter as much as his melee.

IGN’s spacing advice is deliberately unaggressive for a damage race: land one or two attacks, back off, wait for his next attack, then re-engage. The stomp is the exception worth punishing, because it visibly commits him.

What team should you bring to fight General Harald?

Mix melee and ranged, and do not stack the party with either. IGN recommends against a team built entirely of melee classes like Mercenary or Withered Knight while still wanting at least one of them present, filling the remaining slots with a Seer, Sorcerer, or Blackarrow to apply damage from a distance.

That fits the moveset. A pure melee trio spends the fight inside the AoE rider on every attack, in a small arena, against a boss who can also hit from range. A pure ranged trio has nobody to hold his attention while the charge and stomp cross the room.

IGN also notes the cost of the frontline role: the Mercenary is described as strong here but suffers from being close to Harald for the entire fight. If you are picking a melee slot, review the class tier list and the build guides before committing rank points or gear to an unfamiliar setup.

Group size matters on its own. IGN says a full group of three has a much easier time than a solo attempt, and describes Mist Lords as appearing a short time after a match has started rather than being available from the opening minute.

What happens if the fight runs long?

He goes berserk. IGN describes this as a shared Mist Lord behaviour rather than something specific to Harald: take too long damaging him and he enters a berserk phase. The collected material never states how long “too long” is, so no timer in minutes can be published here — plan for a damage race without pretending to know the deadline.

The suggested answer is sustained team damage rather than burst, with one or two players keeping damage-over-time applied, and IGN singles out the Blackarrow as the class it most wants in that role. Combined with the hit-and-back-off spacing above, the intended shape of the fight is steady chip damage from a mixed team, not a series of long aggressive commitments.

How tough is General Harald compared with the other Mist Lords?

He sits in the middle. A third-party database lists all three set-piece bosses with scaled spans rather than fixed values, and its own note explains why: health and attack scale with the raid you queue into, with the listed spans running from a Normal solo run up to a Cataclysm squad.

BossHealthAttackDefence
Flesheater2,464–7,379283–431705
General Harald3,430–10,518332–493705
Salmar, the Cursed Moonwane4,073–12,490332–493705

Harald and Salmar share an attack span; the gap between them is health. Salmar carries roughly 19% more at both ends of the range — and, per IGN, a second phase that Harald does not have. Read together, those two facts are the clearest argument for treating Harald as the more approachable of the two Mist Lords rather than the harder one.

These are extracted third-party values, not a developer balance sheet, and they can change with any patch.

What the sources do not establish

Being direct about the gaps is more useful than filling them:

  • His location is contested, as the table above shows, and nothing in this material set resolves it.
  • The berserk timer has no published length.
  • His attack-move count is unavailable — the database shows a dash rather than a number for Harald, the same as for the Flesheater.
  • The arena-entry figures (300 Gyldenblood, ~20 minutes, ~45-second portal window) come from one source describing the Flesheater fight, and no source confirms they apply to Harald.
  • No collected source names his drops. The general claim that map bosses are the only current source of Holy weapons comes from a single roster page and is not Harald-specific.
  • “Harald the Fallen General” appears in one guide only. No other collected source uses that epithet.
