Mistfall Hunter Decipher List: Every Cipher Keyword
A Mistfall Hunter decipher list you can search by keyword — look up Hay, Cheese, Sealing Wax, Prophecy or Spindle and get the camp NPC that pays the bonus.
If you are holding a cipher and want the answer rather than an explanation, this page is the lookup table. Every keyword is listed alphabetically with the camp NPC it points to, so you can check the exact words printed on your cipher instead of reasoning about which NPC’s theme feels closest.
For how the system works — what a cipher is, why the first hand-in matters, and what the Golden Cipher event adds — read the cipher guide first. This page is the reference sheet that sits beside it.
Mistfall Hunter decipher list, by keyword
Look up the words on your cipher. Four sources were compared to build this table; all but one row are agreed on by every source that lists the word at all.

Rows marked “two sources” are ones the shorter lists simply do not include, not ones anybody contradicts.
Which keyword do the sources disagree on?
Haggling — and it is the one disagreement that can actually cost you a reward. IGN’s table and the community solutions thread both place Haggling under Pip alone. Mobalytics lists it under Cazarro and keeps it under Pip, so the word appears twice in its own table, and MMOExp independently gives “Barter/Haggling” as a Cazarro pairing.
That leaves a genuine two-against-two split with no majority, and nothing in the collected material resolves it. If your cipher’s other keyword is unambiguous — Barter points to Cazarro, Mantra or Tree Hollow points to Pip — let that word decide. If Haggling is the only word you have, you are making a coin flip, and the first correct hand-in is where the bonus lives.
Two more single-source additions are worth flagging rather than adopting:
- Nameless appears under Dramm in one source only.
- Prayer appears under Pip in one source only.
Both may be a mix-up rather than a keyword. The same material names a Nameless Cipher and a Prayer Cipher as cipher types, so these two entries may be type names that got folded into a keyword list. That is a plausible reading of the evidence, not a confirmed one, which is why neither appears in the main table.
One source also splits Soekja’s “Stone Steps” into separate “Steps” and “Stone” entries and writes “Camel Bell” instead of “Camel Bells”. Three other sources use the joined forms, so those are treated as that source’s formatting rather than separate keywords. The same source spells two NPCs “Merino” and “Soejka”; the other three write Merimo and Soekja.
Which keywords appear together on one cipher?
One guide lists the pairings players actually see printed together. These are useful as confirmation — if both words on your cipher point the same way, you are not guessing.
| NPC | Pairings listed together |
|---|---|
| Cazarro | Blood / City-State / Intelligence · Covenant / Interest · Insight / Balance · Barter / Haggling |
| Dew | Homeward / Anchor / Echo · Prophecy / Spindle |
| Dramm | Fire / Ashes / Brimstone · Anvil / Furnace |
| Merimo | Rugs / Caravan · Hay / Cheese · Camel Bells / Salt Licks |
| Pip | Mantra / Elder · Score / Plucking · Tree Hollow / Secret Cache |
| Sigrid | Sealing Wax / Acid |
Every combination above comes from a single source, and it is a site that sells Gyldenblod and repeats purchase prompts throughout the article. The pairings are consistent with the keyword mapping the other three sources give, which is why they are reproduced — but a commercial source with no corroboration is worth verifying against your own cipher rather than trusting outright. Note also that its Barter/Haggling pairing is exactly where the Haggling disagreement comes from.
What cipher types are there?
Only Golden Cipher is named by more than one source, and it is described as a limited-time event with its own reward track layered on top of ordinary deciphering.
One further source lists Prayer, Lost, Old World, Nameless, and Forbidden ciphers as additional types. That is the same commercial source as the pairings table, no other collected source names them, and nothing in the material explains how they differ from a Golden Cipher in rewards or hand-in rules. They are recorded here as reported names only.
The same source is also the only one to say that a bonus is not guaranteed even on a correct match — that the right NPC gives the highest chance of a valuable item rather than a certainty. Other sources describe the first correct hand-in as simply yielding the best rewards available. Both framings may describe the same behaviour from different angles; the material does not settle it.
How do you get more ciphers to decipher?
Run more raids. Cipher drops are described as entirely random per loot event, so volume is the only lever the collected sources identify. They appear in protected chests, drop from minions and bosses, and come from quests provided by Soekja.
One guide recommends trio maps specifically, because the quests and chests there offer three times the rewards and therefore more chances at a cipher. The same guide is honest about the trade-off: a solo player on a trio map has a high chance of meeting a full squad and being quickly overwhelmed. Sticking to solo maps is the safer route if you are not equipped for that fight.
One piece of advice carries across sources without contradiction: extract before you decipher. Losing a cipher inside a raid loses the bonus entirely, and the hand-in only happens back at camp.
